Happy Monster
- Recommended: 2 players; age 8+ (younger with help).
- Materials: Paper, a pen or pencil, and a friend to write with. Optional: Stickers, crayons, or markers to decorate with, two 6-sided dice.
- About: Create a Happy Monster and write to your friend from your monster's perspective. Use roll tables when creating your monster and coming up with your adventures. A letter-writing, story game for the young and young at heart.
There are so many things a monster can do in a world of magic! They can play Hide and Seek with a jovial jackalope and a giggling goblin. They can fly with dragons through the Starlit Sky Gardens. They can even bring laughter to the Land of Lamentation. Read the adventures of your monster’s friend and build a magic world together.
Happy Monsters is a letter-writing story game for two friends. Each player takes the role of a happy monster who writes about their adventures! Send the letters through the mail or hand them off the next time you see your friend. Including the Idea Center, with 27 different roll tables, there will always be something for your monster to write about.
Happy Monsters was created for the Pay What You Want TTRPGs 2 Bundle and the Indie TTRPG Generator Game Jam. The latter is a jam that uses the Title Generator by Michael Klamerus. It started out as a throw-away game that I was going to bundle with a few other games for this jam. It wound up blowing up while I was making it though. I hope you and/or your littles enjoy playing it as I enjoyed making it!
